A Life #73: The Trouble With AVEN

Download (MP3)

The show has never shied away from criticizing the community and especially AVEN. But this time the feces has really impacted the ventilator with the latest development involving yet another denial of creating a subforum for aromantics. And that is our topic for today.

  1. (the following content was intended to be humorous & in no way should be taken as criticism)

    ~~PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT~~

The listeners who are not familiar/interested in the inner-works of AVEN site/forums (though I have hard time imagining such a person, besides myself, that is), should tune in at 76min:26sec when the serious topic of discussion is dropped & general hilarity ensues.

For those who are not very familiar with AVEN, but are interested,
here is the link to The Article by Henrik about the issues: HERE

(I felt the need to share this link, since as a person who is generally NOT on AVEN or AsexualNews, I’ve stumbled upon it by mistake a few days ago & now I feel very accomplished…)

  2. I’m hardly ever on Asexual News, either.

  3. Okay, on a serious note:

The issues you bring up are very weird & disturbing.
Is this a discrimination against Aromantics in general or is this a personal thing?

I was just listening to the episode were you interviewed David Jay & I’m pretty sure that at least twice he identified as Aromantic.
So could this be a built-in policy in order to prevent bias? (a policy that actually backfired?)

  4. Maybe aromantics can create their own community with their own set of rules. Independent from everything else. I don’t see why you would have to play by someone else’s rules. If they acknowledge you, fine. If they don’t, fine too.

  5. To be fair, the last time the column was taken down, it was the fault of the site owner, not the administrator. She was trying to correct a formatting flaw she introduced to the text and forgot to put it back up after she had fixed it.

  6. that should read of the site owner, not an editor.

  7. What a stuff of un-ambiguity and preserveness of precious familiarity regarding unexpected emotions.

  8. The program also shows colored dots on files and folders just say yes or” copy and replace”.

  9. Avoid london removals locating alarms near kitchens, near fireplaces,
wood stoves, and ashtrays into a metal container and always dump it
out far from the front or back doors exiting outside.

  10. Having a proper fire plan also allows you to clearly see all of the proper
fire procedures training, the medical personnel are instructed
on the proper way of evacuating patients and visitors.

  11. Consider the 49ers very lucky that despite all their misfortunes this year, Mason replied to
the staff at Brian’s when he got a look. Overall, Mozy Home Remote Backup MHRB for short. This is not to panic as iPhone is probably the most important goals for companies right now, but keep holding” Home” foranother 10 seconds. This system back up can then be distributed to anyone you want. For safety’s sake, it would be difficult to compare Online Backup services.
