A Life #50: Special Celebratory Extravaganza

Download (iPod Video)
Download (MP3)

In honour of the 50th episode, the panelists decided to go for video. With disastrous consequences!

Well, they’re really not all that disastrous, but I thought that a sensationalist description might boost our numbers a bit…

What was the best prop?

  1. As a listener who downloads episode, it was good to see all you guys in motion. It was also good to put a face to the voices πŸ™‚

  2. I meant to say “downloads every episode”.

  3. To qualify my position I must say I only partially identify with the asexual community and thus I do not “come out” as often as I should.

That said, possessing knowledge of sexual innuendo and nuances makes more interesting the asininity of sexual lingo, such as the misappropriation of farm fowls and domesticated cats. It’s a direct correlation: if you understand why something is funny, you can laugh.

A happy or okay asexual–there’s nothing wrong with equanimity–understands or tries to comprehend the world around her. But at the same time I think it is crucial that we protect ourselves and our ace identities from name-callers who try to disenfranchise the orientation.

I may slip up and indulge once in a while but basking in hate and pity for the sexual idiots/populace isn’t as fun as Henrik makes it seem. Well, not forever anyway.

PS I hate camera’s too. But it’s good to see y’alls faces. Fine work with editing, Henrik πŸ™‚ Cheers

  4. Great show, guys. It’s great to be able to picture all of you from now on. I’m writing from Brazil, I do research on asexuality and never miss a show. I learn a lot from you guys. Keep up the good work.

  5. Thanks for taking the time to do something special of episode fifty. It was a big surprise when I went to listen to the latest episode on my way home. I’d just got a new iPod, so when I saw the A Life logo take up the whole screen I thought: ‘huh, guess that’s part of the new interface.’ But no, it’s an A Life video podcast!

  6. I just found your blog. It’s so nice to see some sane self-recognition on this subject. I’m 41 years old and have had a life of constant irritation including one accusation after another on the issue of sexuality and I always experience the most profound ignorance and stupidity whenever I get cornered or mobbed by people in the LGBTQ community and the Straight world for not “dating” or catching those little innuendos that you mention. It’s just hell trying to get people to understand that an orgasms don’t people special and that sex is not the most rewarding form of intimacy.

I’m so glad you found each-other and I’m adding a link to your blog from my blog which only barely exists just yet. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Also I’m self diagnosed as living as an adult asperger’s and I’m especially happy to see (and SEE) an another adult with autism discussing asexuality in a positive context (i.e. without all the clinical brainwashing that younger people are subjected to now that autism is recognized in the US)

    Thanks for existing.
